And we allhave the same exact problem which is that it only works on SATA HDs'. I have checked the official website for any 'known issues' on the reviews as well to no avail.
I don't think we're doing anything wrong..are we?

What does 'it does not work' mean? What is the symptom?
Literally nothing. Once we have the power and the hd connect we then connect via USB from the apricorn device to computer and nothing.
I was playing with it last night and I found that connecting the power (from the ac adapter that came with the apricorn device)directly into the HDD instead of connecting it to the apricorn(how its suppose to be) and I could instantly hear the HDD working and then my computer pickes it up where I can then navigate into the HDD files.
The only thing is that I have to keep my hand steady on the power connector going to the HDD(if connected in the way I described above) because the pins from the HDD where the molex connector goes is a little of than the apricorns pwr connector..if that makes any sense.
But I am uncertian as to why I would have to deal with it this way. And surprised that all three of us have the same exact issue however, I can't seem to find anything related online. Oh well.

I think you have found the key. There is nothing in the 42pin/48 pin ribbon that supplies power, but the SATA power connector is part of that block while power for the drives is not. The device I use is much cheaper and perhaps straight forward. You definitely have to power the drives through the molex.

Those Molex connectors do need a fair bit of force (to push in)
